BCG Attorney Search in Chicago seeks an experienced Tax Controversy Counsel to independently manage a broad range of federal and state tax matters, collaborate with clients and legal teams, and contribute meaningfully to the firm’s tax practice.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of tax controversy experience, a J.D., bar admission, and strong writing and analytical skills; an LL.M. in Taxation is preferred.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of tax controversy representation experience.
• Experience in a law firm, government, or accounting environment.
• Superior writing, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to navigate complex tax matters effectively.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in federal and state tax controversy matters.
• Handle IRS and state audits, examinations, and administrative appeals.
• Manage collections matters, penalty abatements, and installment agreements.
• Draft protests, responses to Information Document Requests, and legal pleadings.
• Engage in tax litigation, including U.S. Tax Court and District Court proceedings.
