Job summary

Aprio in Portland, OR is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our team. You will own engagements from planning through completion on partnership and flow-through returns, and you’ll work with partners and managers to deliver high-quality tax solutions.

You will collaborate with an experienced team investing in technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools, while coaching junior staff and building trusted client relationships across real estate and other industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 2-5 years of public accounting tax experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for partnerships, S corporations and corporations.
• Strong understanding of flow-through entities and closely held businesses.
• Experience reviewing workpapers and responding to review notes.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements successfully.
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and CPA firm operations.
• Experience working directly with clients and building trusted relationships.
• Comfort working with tax technology, automation tools, and evolving AI-enabled solutions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both onshore and offshore teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CPA or EA designation (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of engagements from planning through completion.
• Building meaningful client relationships and serving as a trusted advisor.
• Collaborating with an experienced team investing in technology, automation, AI-enabled tools, and modern tax delivery processes.
• Gaining exposure to engagement review, staff development, and increasing leadership responsibilities as you progress toward Manager and beyond.
• Working closely with partners and industry leaders who mentor future leaders.
• Growing your career within a nationally recognized advisory and accounting firm with a strong real estate platform.
• Preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns, with a focus on partnerships and flow-through entities.
• Reviewing workpapers, trial balances, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Researching tax issues and identifying planning opportunities.
• Collaborating with clients to gather information and provide responsive service.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing coaching.
