Job summary

Baker Tilly, one of the fastest growing CPA advisory firms, seeks a Senior Tax Associate to join our Private Wealth International practice in California. You will assist high-net-worth individuals, families and family offices with complex tax compliance and planning, including trusts, estates and international disclosures.

This role offers exposure to global asset management and cross-border advice, mentorship, and the opportunity to grow within a well-established private wealth team.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field required.
• Active pursuit of CPA, MST or JD/LLM preferred.
• Two+ years experience in tax return preparation for wealthy individuals and their trusts.
• Two+ years experience in international asset disclosure for individuals with foreign investments.
• Interest in helping affluent families preserve and grow wealth.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing compliance and consulting services to high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families, family offices and their private businesses; prepare and review complex returns and international disclosures.
• Analyze international holdings for disclosure and plan around foreign assets to minimize global tax.
• Work on multiple engagements delivering proactive tax planning and strategic consulting including estate, gift and generation skipping tax.
• Stay up-to-date on trends and apply authorities to complex situations.
• Learn and grow through coaching and firm-wide development programs.
• Network and build relationships with clients and internally to support growth.

Education

Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field

CPA / MST / JD / LLM pursuing

2+ years tax return preparation experience

2+ years international asset disclosure experience

Interest in affluent families and wealth management

Our consulting professionals provide comprehensive strategic income, trust, estate, gift tax, succession planning, valuation and international tax services.

Our Private Wealth (International) practice focuses on individuals and families with global assets and tax implications.

What you'll do

• Assist in providing compliance and consulting services to high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational affluent families, family offices and their private businesses and/or investment entities: Prepare and review complex individual, trust, estate, gift and state tax returns and international disclosures.


• Analyze international holdings for disclosure purposes and assist clients with planning around foreign assets and minimizing global taxation.


• Work on multiple engagements that deliver proactive tax planning and strategic consulting including federal estate, gift, charitable planning and generation skipping tax.


• Build on technical competence by keeping up-to-date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to complex situations.


• Learn and grow from direct and on the job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs.


• Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients.


• Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals.

Minimum Qualifications

4-year degree
Eligible to obtain CPA, JD, or EA
3 years of professional experience

Qualifications

• Two (2) + year(s) experience in tax return preparation and planning for wealthy individuals, family members and their trusts, investment entities, and private businesses.


• Two (2) + year(s) experience in international asset disclosure preparation for individuals with foreign accounts, businesses, trusts, and other foreign investments.


• An interest to assist affluent families and individuals enhance and preserve their wealth.


• Eligibility to work in the U.S., without sponsorship, highly preferred.

Pay Rates

• The national pay rate range is $82,600 to $120,000.


• In Irvine, California: pay rate range is $95,000 to $138,000.


• In Walnut Creek, California: pay rate range is $103,300 to $150,000.
