Job summary

Focus Partners Wealth is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our team. You will prepare and review tax returns for high-net-worth individuals and their entities, support tax planning initiatives, and ensure compliance across federal and state requirements.

You will collaborate with internal teams on tax research, assist with staff development, and help communicate tax updates to clients, maintaining exceptional client service with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 3+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience focusing on individual, fiduciary, partnership and S-corp returns with emphasis on high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving, tech, organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and ability to learn other software.
  • Attention to detail, self-initiated follow-through, and excellent time management.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to work additional hours during busy season.
  • CPA, CPA candidate or EA preferred for IRS representation.
  • Experience with multi-state returns preferred.
  • Experience with ProSystem fx Tax, CCH Axcess, CCH Workflow, Engagement and BNA Income Tax Planner preferred.

Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
  • Tax planning and preparation for high-net-worth individuals and their related entities;
  • Performing first reviews on certain individual and fiduciary returns;
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal and state filing requirements on behalf of clients;
  • Acting as a resource to business management teams for tax planning, tax research, and ongoing education of tax-related developments;
  • Assisting Tax Managers with regularly educating permanent and seasonal tax preparation staff; and
  • Assisting with communicating relevant tax developments to clients through newsletters, social media, and/or other communications.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 3+ years’ relevant experience;
  • A demonstrated focus on preparing individual, fiduciary, partnership and S-corp tax returns with a primary focus on high-net-worth individuals and families;
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills; strong problem solving, technology, communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and proven ability to learn other technology;
  • Notable attention to detail, self-initiated follow-through, and outstanding time management
  • Ability to work individually and in a team atmosphere
  • The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed, during busy season
  • CPA, CPA candidate or EA granting the ability to represent clients before the IRS preferred
  • Experience preparing multi-state returns preferred
  • Experience with ProSystem fx® Tax, CCH Axcess, CCH Workflow, Engagement and BNA Income Tax™ Planner preferred.

This position is an exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $80,000 - $100,000 per year base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k). Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate’s experience and education.
