Job description

Senior Tax Analyst at PGE

Responsibilities
  • Lead qualification, compliance, and documentation of tax credits for existing renewable energy projects, and advise on planning and structuring for future developments.
  • Prepare and support monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740, including calculations of current and deferred taxes, analysis of effective tax rate drivers, and preparation of audit‑ready supporting schedules.
  • Research, develop, and recommend tax strategies aligned with the organization’s financial objectives, including evaluation of impacts on utility regulation and document technical positions supporting tax treatment.
  • Perform technical tax research and planning, including analysis of new legislation, regulations, and court decisions, and assess potential impact on the organization.
  • Assist with accurate and timely preparation, review and filing of all required tax returns across jurisdictions (federal, state, local, international); coordinate with external providers, ensure data integrity, and resolve technical issues.
  • Partner with Finance and Financial Systems teams to ensure systems capture and provide accurate data required for tax compliance and reporting.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on the tax implications of business strategies and transactions; evaluate the impact of new laws on current and future tax positions.
  • Support and manage interactions with taxing authorities, including participation in audits, responding to inquiries, and driving resolution of issues.
Education, Experience & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically five or more years in a related field.
  • CPA preferred.
Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of tax and compliance laws, regulations and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of renewable energy tax qualification rules preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of other finance and accounting disciplines, financial systems and applications, and utility industry regulations.
  • Intermediate business acumen, problem‑solving skills, organization and prioritization skills, analytical thinking skills.
  • Advanced written and/or oral communication skills.
Schedule & Attendance
  • Hybrid work environment – 3 days in office.
  • May require occasional travel within service territory.
  • Ability to work long hours and a variable schedule as needed.
