Job summary

LHH is seeking an experienced accounting and tax professional to deliver comprehensive tax, accounting, and advisory services to a diverse client portfolio in Maryland. The role emphasizes preparation and review of business and individual returns, ongoing tax planning, and client advisory services.

You will manage long-term client relationships, supervise staff accountants, and provide guidance on payroll and sales tax matters, accounting systems, and financial processes in a collaborative

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 3+ years of accounting and tax experience in public accounting or client service.
• Experience preparing or reviewing business tax returns and individual income tax returns.
• Experience providing ongoing tax planning and advisory support to businesses and individuals.
• Experience with monthly financial compilations for business clients.
• Payroll and sales tax knowledge.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and client-service skills.
• Ability to communicate accounting and tax matters clearly and professionally to clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local business tax returns, with a focus on accurate filings.
• Prepare and review individual income tax returns for business owners and other individual clients.
• Provide year-round tax planning and advisory services to clients.
• Work directly with clients to gather information for tax returns.
• Review the work of staff accountants responsible for monthly compilations and schedules.
• Analyze financial statements and accounting records to identify trends and tax implications.
• Advise clients on tax, accounting, financial, and business matters.
• Manage a portfolio of long-term client relationships and act as primary contact.
• Assist with onboarding and implementation of new clients and prior-period work as needed.
• Provide guidance on accounting systems, processes, and software.
• Maintain understanding of payroll and sales tax and assist clients with compliance.
