Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor to help clients navigate complex tax and business situations with confidence. The role is in-person at a local Block Advisors office, with training, technology support, and an incentive plan tied to impact and client service.

The ideal candidate will prepare complete tax returns for individuals and businesses, conduct in-depth client interviews, and provide personalized recommendations to maximize savings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
