Job summary

AlphaTrust Advisors in Phoenix is seeking a Tax Manager who thinks like a consultant. You will own client relationships, lead complex planning, and drive multi-year strategies for high-net-worth clients, including multi-state returns and sophisticated K-1s.

The role requires 7+ years of tax experience (5+ with Big 4) and a CPA or EA license. You will join a boutique firm with in-house investment, estate, and tax work, reporting to the Director of Tax.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of tax experience, or 5+ years if that experience was individual tax at a Big 4 firm
• CPA or EA license required
• Deep high net worth individual experience: multi-state, complicated K-1s
• Demonstrated planning ability with documented results

Responsibilities

• Lead client-facing planning and advisory meetings, including annual and mid-year planning sessions
• Build multi-year strategies to reduce lifetime tax, not just the current filing year
• Prepare and review complex individual returns involving multiple states and complicated K-1s
• Handle fiduciary work, including complex trust 1041s
• Review pass-through returns (1065 and 1120S) where they connect to individual planning
• Identify planning opportunities across entity structure, timing, basis, charitable vehicles, retirement and estate coordination
• Mentor and review the work of preparers and seniors
• Serve as the trusted point of contact clients call before they make a decision, not after
