Archer Lewis in Portland, ME is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our national accounting and advisory firm. You will manage client engagements, handle complex business tax returns (1120s, 1065s), and provide proactive tax guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of public accounting experience.
• CPA strongly preferred; EA considered for exceptional candidates.
• Strong experience with business tax (1120s and 1065s).
• Solid accounting knowledge and financial statement experience.
• Exposure to compilations/reviews preferred.
• Ability to manage client relationships independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex business tax returns, including 1120s and 1065s.
• Serve as a primary contact for clients, managing relationships and expectations.
• Provide proactive tax guidance and identify planning opportunities.
• Assist with compilations and reviews.
• Review work prepared by junior staff and ensure accuracy and compliance.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will operate as a highly independent Senior Tax Accountant, stepping into a fast‑paced environment where your experience and judgment will have immediate impact. You will manage client engagements, navigate complex tax matters, and serve as a trusted resource both externally to clients and internally to the team.
