Apple is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer to join the Home Systems Performance Engineering team, focusing on tvOS performance for HomePod and Apple TV.

You will analyze performance across memory, video, audio and responsiveness, collaborating with OS and hardware teams to deliver smooth user experiences and robust software solutions.

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline is required, with Apple offering a base pay range and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of low-level hardware-software interaction.
• Extensive knowledge of OS architecture, from kernel to user interface.
• Understanding of optimization and overall performance issues across OS software layers.
• Robust C, C++ or Objective-C coding capabilities.
• Skilled in Python, full stack and cloud technologies to build performance frameworks and infrastructure.
• Ability to analyze new technology and prototype and validate software designs and solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytic and questioning skills.
• Strong organizational abilities, proactive, self-stimulated, and able to work independently.
• First-rate verbal communication and collaboration abilities.
• Experience drawing insights from large volumes of data and presenting them to engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Analyze tvOS performance for HomePod and Apple TV, including memory footprint, video and audio performance, and interactive responsiveness.
• Work cross-functionally with teams in Apple, including OS, hardware engineering, HomeKit, audio and video engineering, to deliver seamless user experiences.
