Job summary

SourcePro Search is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with 5+ years VMware and Microsoft Server experience to design, implement, and secure large-scale infrastructure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in virtualization, AD, storage, networking, and cloud services.

You will lead virtualization projects, manage networks, storage, AD, and cloud services, participate in on-call rotations, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years with VMware technologies and 5+ years as a systems engineer in Microsoft server environments.
• 5+ years designing, building, securing and managing VMware virtualization (ESXi, vCenter).
• Experience with vSAN and NSX.
• 7+ years of systems analysis and 5+ years storage experience.
• Strong encryption knowledge and ITIL foundations encouraged.
• Familiarity with Agile / Kanban project methodologies.
• Expert AD design, support and administration; Windows-based enterprise apps.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage firm systems including networks, storage, Exchange, AD, and remote access.
• Administer cloud-based services (Azure, Office365, AWS) and ensure performance.
• Maintain systems, perform on-call support, and oversee security and hardening.
• Prepare documentation and mentor other IT staff in operations.
• Coordinate with vendors and external IT partners; travel may be required.
• Contribute to change management and incident response.

SourcePro Search is conducting a search for an accomplished Senior Systems Engineerproficient in VMWare technologies, with a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in designing, constructing, securing, and overseeing virtualization technologies within the VMWare stack (ESXi, vCenter). Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of experience in a System Engineer role, particularly focused on Microsoft server systems, is required.

As a valued member of our team of senior systems engineers, you bring a wealth of expertise in core infrastructure technologies such as networking, storage, compute, messaging, mobility systems, cloud-based services, and operational security. Your role as a Senior Systems Engineer involves developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced technical solutions for both new and existing systems.

What You'll Do:

• Design, implement and manage Firm systems including networks, storage, Exchange, physical and virtual servers, Active Directory and Group Policy, Certificate Services, authentication systems, and remote access and mobility systems;
• Administer and support cloud-based systems and related services (e.g Azure, Office365, AWS);
• Oversee and ensure the optimal performance of systems;
• Perform frequent and long-term maintenance in addition to management of user facing tasks;
• Provide expert level support through escalated technical support;
• Acts as mentor to other IT internal team members in the areas of network and system operations across the Firm;
• Prepare and distribute technical documentation for all assigned systems and projects involving processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, training and change management logs;
• Establish and maintain relationships with IT external customers, vendors and partners;
• Participate in on-call rotation;
• Some overtime and/or non-standard hours, and travel may be required; and
• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degrees in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field (preferred);
• Minimum 5 years working with VMWare technologies;
• Minimum of 5 years in the capacity of System Engineer over Microsoft server systems;
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing, building, securing and managing virtualization technologies based on the VMWare stack (ESXi, vCenter);
• Experience working with vSAN and NSX;
• Minimum of 7 years of systems analysis;
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with storage technologies;
• Ability to manage enterprise wide technology infrastructure;
• Ability to manage multiple infrastructure components;
• Solid working knowledge of encryption technologies;
• Foundational knowledge of ITIL(certification preferred);
• Working knowledge of Agile, KanBan or similar project methodologies;
• Expert proficiency in design and implementation of IT infrastructure systems in large scale Microsoft Windows-based enterprise environments;
• Expert proficiency in Active Directory design, support and administration;
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge inIPnetworks (LAN /WAN,MPLS, VPN, VLAN, WiFi) design, engineering and management;
• Expert proficiency in network and storage design and maintenance (SAN - Storage Area Network, NAS - Network Attached Storage);
• Expert proficiency in a variety of systems, servers and protocols (VMware, Windows Server,TCP/IP, DNS, Active Directory);
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Server & third party software patch management;
• Advanced knowledge of PowerShell development for system utilities, automation and administration;
• Advanced knowledge of monitoring solutions (Orion, Splunk, vRealize Suite/Aria Operations);
• Advanced knowledge of Enterprise backup software; and
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge in cyber risk and system hardening technics.
