Geospatial And Cloud Analytics Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer SME to join our NCIS support team in Quantico, Virginia.

The role focuses on enterprise hosting environments, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and secure deployments across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid platforms. You will provide hands-on engineering, guide development teams, ensure compliance with security policies and FedRAMP requirements, and collaborate with cybersecurity and system admins.

Qualifikationen

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
• High school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant technical experience, or commensurate experience.
• Strong experience administering Linux and Windows server environments in enterprise settings.
• Hands-on experience creating, deploying, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Ansible, etc.).
• Experience configuring/container orchestration platforms (AWS Fargate, Azure Container Services, SUSE Rancher Prime RKE2).
• Experience with service mesh/discovery solutions (Consul, ZooKeeper, AWS Cloud Map).
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu).
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure deployment practices.
• Experience deploying across on-prem/cloud/hybrid environments and understanding FedRAMP.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team supporting the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) in Quantico, Virginia. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in enterprise systems administration, cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, and automated application deployment, with a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure hosting environments.

This position will support the development, maintenance, and integration of hosting environments for mission-critical NCIS applications across on-premises, commercial cloud, and hybrid cloud infrastructures. The successful candidate will provide hands‑on technical expertise and guidance to application development teams, ensuring solutions are properly deployed, maintained, and aligned with applicable security policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with onsite support required approximately 1-2 days per week or as mission requirements dictate.

Duties

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise hosting environments supporting mission-critical applications across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux and Windows server environments to ensure system availability, security, and performance.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• Configure, manage, and operate container orchestration platforms such as AWS Fargate, Azure Container services, SUSE Rancher Prime RKE2, or comparable solutions.
• Implement and maintain service mesh and service discovery technologies, including HashiCorp Consul, Apache ZooKeeper, AWS Cloud Map, or similar platforms.
• Develop, configure, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, OpenTofu, or comparable automation tools.
• Support automated infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment across multiple hosting environments.
• Integrate DevSecOps principles into infrastructure management, application deployment, and system administration processes.
• Support infrastructure deployment and management within FedRAMP-authorized and other secure cloud environments.
• Collaborate with software developers, cybersecurity teams, and system administrators to ensure successful application integration with hosting infrastructure.
• Evaluate application hosting requirements and provide technical guidance on solution architecture, infrastructure compatibility, and deployment strategies.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application integration, container orchestration, and deployment‑related issues.
• Assist with ensuring systems and application hosting environments comply with applicable government security policies, regulations, and implementation requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to mission application developers regarding infrastructure design, cloud hosting, system integration, and secure deployment practices.

• Experience configuring and operating service mesh and service discovery solutions such as HashiCorp Consul, Apache ZooKeeper, AWS Cloud Map, or similar technologies.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, OpenTofu, or comparable tools.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps principles, processes, and secure infrastructure deployment practices.
• Experience managing application deployments across on-premises, commercial cloud, and hybrid cloud infrastructures.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with software development, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.
• Must reside within commuting distance of Quantico, VA, and be available for onsite support as required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting Department of Defense or Department of the Navy IT environments.
• Experience designing or maintaining infrastructure within FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments.
• Experience supporting secure application hosting, infrastructure automation, and enterprise application modernization.
• Familiarity with security accreditation processes and DevSecOps compliance requirements.
• Experience providing architectural guidance and technical leadership to application development teams.
