Job summary

2HB Incorporated in Annapolis Junction, MD, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for a full-time role supporting a government customer. The position requires TS/SCI/Full Scope Polygraph Clearance and strong Linux CLI experience, with leadership in requirements, integration, lifecycle management, and risk mitigation.

The candidate will drive cross‑stakeholder alignment, maintain configuration control, and deliver comprehensive technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Linux CLI proficiency required and experience with Linux systems.
• Experience eliciting, analyzing, validating, and documenting technical and functional requirements to ensure solutions meet stakeholder needs and align with mission objectives
• Experience developing detailed integration strategies, coordinating cross team dependencies, and overseeing system integration activities to ensure interoperability
• Experience at identifying potential risks, evaluating impacts, creating mitigation plans, and tracking issues through resolution to maintain system stability
• Proficient in maintaining disciplined configuration baselines, documenting changes, enforcing version control processes, and ensuring governance procedures
• Strong ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, facilitating communication and timely decisions throughout the project lifecycle
• Experience defining system lifecycle strategies across development, deployment, maintenance, enhancement, decommissioning
• Produces clear, comprehensive technical documentation including diagrams, procedures, guides, and reports
• Hands-on expertise designing, configuring, and maintaining Jira Service Desk projects, workflows, automation, permissions, and custom fields
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Twenty years' experience as a SE in programs of similar scope; Bachelor's degree required; 5-year substitution for degree

Responsibilities

• Responsible for requirements engineering, integration planning, lifecycle management, and risk/issue mitigation across complex mission-focused systems.
• Drive cross-stakeholder alignment, maintain disciplined configuration and change control, and produce clear technical documentation.
• Guide technical decisions and ensure successful system delivery through all lifecycle phases.
• Collaborate with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate timely decisions and alignment.
