Job summary

Saab is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the East Syracuse, NY team, developing complex radar-based surveillance systems for government and commercial customers. You will lead design efforts, coordinate with stakeholders, and advance technology for safer, more capable products.

The role requires 7+ years in safety-critical industries, strong systems engineering experience, and travel as needed. Saab offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team.
• Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems.
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical surveillance worldwide.
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal processes.
• Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with product development management to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved while managing risk.
• Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performance.
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
