The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the architecture, development, integration, support, and continuous improvement of CVS Health's automated distribution center technology platforms. This role serves as a technical leader within the Logistics Open Systems organization supporting Warehouse Execution Systems (WES), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), AutoStore automation, industrial controls, conveyor systems, Pick-to-Light technologies, and Ignition HMI platforms across the CVS distribution center network.
The position partners closely with Distribution Center Operations, Supply Chain Technology Services, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and third-party vendors to deliver highly available solutions that support order fulfillment, inventory movement, automation orchestration, and operational modernization initiatives. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to drive complex projects from concept through production deployment.
Provide Tier III support for mission-critical Supply Chain systems operating in 24x7 fulfillment environments
Lead root cause analysis for production incidents involving automation, controls, integrations, or warehouse execution functions
Execute disaster recovery, rollback, and business continuity procedures as required
Support expansion, optimization, and operational readiness of AutoStore environments
Partner with robotics vendors and operational teams to improve system availability and throughput
Design infrastructure, controls, networking, and redundancy improvements supporting future AutoStore growth
Assist with validation, testing, and deployment of new AutoStore functionality and infrastructure enhancements
Lead medium to large-scale projects supporting Distribution Center modernization initiatives
Coordinate activities across vendors, operations teams, infrastructure teams, and project management organizations
Support capital investments and technology evaluations for emerging logistics technologies
5+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, automation platforms, or logistics technology environments
5+ years experience with Warehouse Management, Warehouse Execution, or Warehouse Control Systems
Experience supporting high-availability production systems in a 24x7 operational environment
Demonstrated success delivering large-scale software implementations and system integrations
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
