Job summary

Scientific Systems Company, Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Systems Engineer focused on Autonomous Vehicles and Uncrewed Systems.

You will develop MBSE-based architecture models for autonomous and crewed-uncrewed collaboration, using Cameo/MagicDraw, AFSIM and related tools. The role emphasizes system-level integration, requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics, with frequent customer liaison and a possibility of travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of progressive systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with the development, integration, and test of autonomous systems.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and formal tools for SysML.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation (M&S) and formal tools for simulation and analysis, such as AFSIM.

Responsibilities

  • Significantly support system design reviews for Autonomy Systems and develop interfaces and viewpoints per customer standards such as DoDAF.
  • Perform system-level integration and test to ensure Autonomy Systems meet requirements.
  • Define and document system requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics.
  • Lead autonomy architecture development and act as customer-facing liaison for architectural developments.
  • Perform system-level modeling and simulation using digital models and tools to quantify system effectiveness.
  • Support proposals by performing M&S, data analysis and contributing content sections.
  • Apply MBSE methodologies using tools like Cameo/MagicDraw to create and maintain system models with traceability.
  • Conduct system analysis and design activities to support Autonomy System Architectures, models, data, and interfaces.

Job description

Scientific Systems Products Division is looking to fill a Senior Systems Engineer position in the domain of Autonomous Vehicles and Uncrewed Systems. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing architecture models relating to autonomous systems and crewed-uncrewed collaboration using Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools.

Essential Functions:
  • Significantly support system design reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR/TRR) for Autonomy Systems, develop interfaces (IDDs, ICDs) and operational/system/data viewpoints, in alignment with customer standards such as DoDAF.
  • Perform system-level integration and test activities to ensure the Autonomy Systems meet or exceeds functional and performance system requirements.
  • Define and document system requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics.
  • Lead autonomy architecture development efforts and act as a primary customer-facing liaison for all architectural developments.
  • Perform system-level modeling and simulation (M&S) and analyses using digital models and analysis tools, such as AFSIM, to quantify the utility or effectiveness of an autonomy system.
  • Support proposal activities by performing M&S, technical data analysis and creating/ revising assigned technical content sections as needed.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, using tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, to create and maintain system models, ensuring clarity and traceability.
  • Perform system analysis, such as requirements analyses, and design activities to support the development of Autonomy System Architectures, models, data, and interfaces.
  • Develop working knowledge of Aerospace and DoD Systems Engineering Management, and relevant customer or industry processes, such as DoD 5000.
  • This position requires the ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require the ability to push/pull/lift up to 15 pounds
  • This role may require travel when necessary. Approximately 15%
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active US DOD Security Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experienceand 5+ years of progressive systems engineering experience in a related industry.
  • Experience with the development, integration, and test of autonomous systems.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and formal tools for SysML.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation (M&S) and formal tools for simulation and analysis, such as AFSIM.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s of Science degree or PhD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, CAD, AutoCAD, AFSIM, and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and creatively solve complex problems
  • Ability to execute logical reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Salary: $139,000 - $172,000 (Depends on Experience)
