Job summary

Pivotal is seeking a Systems Engineer – GNC & Flight Controls to lead requirements development, system integration, and V&V for guidance, navigation, control, and flight-control systems. The role focuses on quality, traceability, and verification across hardware and software interfaces, working with GNC, embedded software, and test teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• 5+ years in aerospace, automotive, robotics, or safety-critical systems.
• Strong requirements engineering experience and traceability.
• Experience with Jama or DOORS-like tools; Jama preferred.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python; familiarity with Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop, decompose, allocate, and maintain requirements for GNC, flight controls, estimation, sensing, and related software functions.
• Own Jama artifacts, including traceability, baselines, and verification methods.
• Translate system needs into clear, measurable requirements for GNC, embedded software, sensors, actuators, and hardware.
• Collaborate with GNC and software engineers to ensure correct control-law behavior and interfaces.
• Develop and maintain Verification & Validation plans, matrices, test requirements, and reports.
• Define verification methods including SIL, HIL, simulation, bench, and flight testing.
• Review verification results and drive closure of verification artifacts.
• Maintain bidirectional traceability from stakeholder requirements to test evidence.
• Support interfaces between GNC, flight-control software, sensors, actuators, and subsystems.
• Review MATLAB/Simulink models and ensure model-to-requirement traceability.
• Review software artifacts (C/C++, Python) and Git work flows.
• Participate in SRR, CoDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and flight-readiness reviews.
• Support system-level integration and root-cause analysis.
• Identify gaps and ambiguities early to prevent issues.
