Job summary

RTX is seeking a highly motivated Field Test Engineer to support planning and execution of complex integration and verification test events for missile defense technologies at Andover, MA. This onsite role may require travel up to 20% to RTX facilities or test sites.

The ideal candidate will hold a STEM degree with 5+ years of systems software/hardware experience and a DoD Secret clearance. Responsibilities include test planning, execution, documentation, and coordination with USG customers.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with systems software, hardware, requirements, integration and/or testing.
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as test plans and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Support field test activities for system integration, verification and validation, including event planning and CDLR reporting.
  • Plan and execute test strategy by analyzing software, hardware needs and range availability.
  • Develop and implement test plans, and perform integration and verification in simulated and real environments.

The Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities team is seeking a highly motivated Field Test Engineer to support the planning and execution of complex integration and verification test events. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in system integration and testing. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge missile defense technologies within a collaborative and innovative environment.

What You Will Do
  • Support field test activities for the System Integration, Verification, and Validation team, including event planning, assessing test requirements and methodology, executing test events, and generating CDRL reports.
  • Plan and execute test strategy by analyzing software implementation, hardware needs, and range test availability to establish a comprehensive test campaign.
  • Support testing efforts by developing and implementing test plans and procedures, and performing integration and verification in both simulated and real-world environments.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze hardware, software, and system issues in real time and through detailed post-test debugging and analysis.
  • Perform modeling and analysis using simulation tools to predict system performance and support verification and validation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration and system functionality.
  • Document and communicate integration activities, execute plans, analyze data, verify requirements, and present results to Program Management, System Integration and Test leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate with the USG customer and supporting organizations to prepare for and execute test events.
  • Support missions and test events by traveling as needed (up to 20%) to various RTX facilities, test sites, or to lead range support teams from Andover.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with systems software, systems hardware, systems requirements, systems integration, and/or system testing
  • Experience developing technical documentation, such as test plans, procedures, or technical reports.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance
  • Hands-on experience in integration labs, test facilities, and field verification
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) and configuration control
  • Experience with aircraft coordination and mission planning
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, C/C++, or similar languages

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
