Job summary

NexGen Data Systems in San Diego, CA seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to develop and validate prototypes and engineering development models for Navy modernization efforts. The role turns system specs into mockups, defines integration and security requirements, and supports development models for Naval Exchange Point systems.

A DoD Secret clearance and 8570/8140 certifications are required, with 10 years of systems engineering experience.

Qualifications

Active DoD Secret clearance required.
DoD 8570 / 8140 OS and Cybersecurity certifications required.
Master’s degree in Engineering discipline.
10 years of professional experience in systems engineering.
Experience developing hardware/software mockups and rapid prototypes with testing.
Maintain TS/SCI clearance and required SCI access; background investigations as needed.

Responsibilities

Develop engineering mockups and development models representing equipment and configurations.
Coordinate prototype fabrication and assembly to validate designs before modernization.
Define integration, deployment, security configuration and lifecycle support for development models.
Plan and evaluate model testing, document deficiencies and recommend design changes.
Analyze upgrade concepts and validate models against equipment specifications.
Prepare technical design information and model validation records for Government review.
