Job description

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead complex, high-impact systems engineering efforts supporting mission-critical programs. This role works across ambiguous technical challenges, defines engineering approaches that others follow, and helps reduce technical risk across teams, subsystems, and program areas.

The ideal candidate brings deep systems engineering lifecycle expertise, strong mission and integration judgment, and the ability to guide complex work in secure, high-performance environments while mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction.

What you’ll do
  • Lead complex systems engineering efforts across multiple teams, subsystems, or program workstreams.
  • Define and drive approaches related to requirements development, decomposition, interfaces, integration, verification, and technical planning.
  • Establish or improve systems engineering methods, structures, and best practices that strengthen execution quality.
  • Lead resolution of complex cross-team issues involving requirements, dependencies, interfaces, integration, or mission alignment.
  • Support system architecture thinking, technical roadmaps, and program tradeoff decisions.
  • Maintain alignment across software, test, integration, and program teams to support successful delivery.
  • Identify technical risks, communicate tradeoffs, and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and technical leads across the team.
  • Support technical shaping and evolving program needs through strong awareness of customer priorities, mission requirements, and execution risk.
  • Contribute to mission-focused execution in secure, customer-driven environments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant STEM field.
  • 10+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Experience leading complex systems engineering efforts across integrated technical teams, subsystems, or program areas.
  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements development, decomposition, interface definition, integration, verification, and technical planning.
  • Experience with requirements management, technical baselines, traceability, dependency management, and cross-team coordination.
  • Experience participating in or supporting technical design reviews and system maturity reviews.
  • Strong systems analysis skills and ability to work independently in complex, ambiguous technical environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with hardware design integration, subsystem architecture, interface definition, or design coordination across hardware/software boundaries.
  • Experience collaborating with software teams on software design allocation, behavior, and integration in complex product environments.
  • Experience with radar design, radar systems, RF environments, sensor systems, signal flow, tracking, or mission/sensor integration.
  • Experience supporting Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), technical baseline reviews, or major engineering milestone reviews.
  • Experience with system performance analysis, interface control documents, verification planning, and technical risk management for complex defense or mission systems.
  • Experience with MBSE concepts and tools such as SysML, Cameo, DOORS, UML, or similar environments.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, radar, ISR, GEOINT, command-and-control, or other secure technical environments.
  • Experience working in integrated product teams or Agile development environments where systems and software coordination is critical.
