What you'll do

Your duties will include supporting server hardware, managing SAN storage, as well as coordinating VMware, Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, NTP, and syslog. As a main point of contact you will use outstanding customer service skills to help support lab environments as well as production data centers. You will apply your advanced Linux skills to bring up new infrastructure and applications to support our ever-growing needs across the enterprise.

This is a sitebased role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard fiveday workweek.

This is a contingent/contract position.

US Citizenship or Permanent Resident is required.

The day-to-day

Your daily duties will vary but will include supporting Viasat owned labs, providing advanced support for our customer, and developing infrastructure solutions for our customer's needs. Specific tasks will include:

• Administering VMware
• Administering Active Directory
• Administering SAN Storage
• Administering Backups
• Administering Linux servers
• Administering Windows servers
• Writing Puppet code
• Writing scripts in python and bash
• Supporting and collaborating with Viasat engineering teams
• Supporting customer engineering teams
• Writing and updating documentation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal instruction, balanced with the ability to seek assistance when needed.

What you'll need

• BA/BS in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 5 or more years supporting enterprise server hardware.
• 5 or more years Administering Linux Systems
• 5 or more years Administering VMware
• 3 or more years managing SAN storage
• At least 3 years of experience supporting Active Directory
• Over 3 years of experience managing Windows Systems
• 3 our more years experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt.
• Proficient in scripting languages like Bash, Python, and Perl
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Excellent networking fundamentals: Subnetting, VLANS, TCP, and UDP
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal instruction, balanced with the ability to seek assistance when needed.

Salary range

$141,500.00 - $224,000.00 / annually.

For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $176,000.00- $264,000.00/ annually
