Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a high-visibility Air Force program at Hanscom AFB. You will provide systems engineering and program acquisition support focused on enterprise IT systems, C2 capabilities, and related technologies.

The role involves delivering digital infrastructure within the DoDIN, integrating DoW weapon systems, and coordinating across government teams. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• 18+ years engineering experience, incl. 5+ years supporting a systems program office.
• Experience with software development, integration, or lifecycle management related to system engineering.
• Experience with global networking, cloud data center, and network presence build out.
• Experience with classified or special access programs.
• Independent, self-starter able to work with senior government personnel.
• Proficient with MS Office and engineering tools (Cameo, DOORS).
• Knowledge of military platforms and DoD operations.
• Familiarity with Confluence or Jira.
• Excellent oral and written communication.

MTSI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a high visibility Air Force program at Hanscom Air Force Base. This role provides systems engineering and program/acquisition support to the Government Team Lead, focused on enterprise IT systems, C2 capabilities, and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering and deploying digital infrastructure within the DoDIN and integrating Digital Infrastructure into DoW Weapon Systems. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

Program & Engineering Support

• Support engineering and program management activities for USAF programs.
• Help develop objectives, integrated roadmaps, schedules, and budgets.
• Assist with design, integration, testing, and technical reviews.

Documentation & Analysis

• Prepare SOWs, specifications, briefs, and engineering documents.
• Review and analyze vendor proposals within legal guidelines.
• Conduct data gathering, analysis, and validation of program documentation.

Integration & Acquisition Support

• Support R&D, acquisition planning, and implementation.
• Help manage cost, schedule, and performance across program phases.
• Assist with milestone planning, briefing development, and coordination.

Compliance & Governance

• Support JCIDS, CONOPS, architectural views, security certifications, and acquisition reporting.
• Assist with acquisition strategies, capability development plans, and transition to PEOs.

Roadmaps & Stakeholder Engagement

• Develop and communicate technology roadmaps and integration plans.
• Coordinate across customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Work across multiple classified networks while adhering to security requirements.

Lead Deployment Activities

• Coordinate with DAF and other DoW Service Components to install and integrate digital infrastructure worldwide
• Build enterprise network architectures, network topologies, and network kit architectures
• Define Bills of Materials, product level details and specifications to deploy per site
• Work with logistics, cyber, operational, and fellow engineers to deploy a fully capable system to a site

Systems Engineering Support

• Define system requirements along with other IPTs
• Define system risks, and opportunities based on operational impacts
• Prepare senior leader briefings and communications for program leadership

Required Experience

• 18+ years engineering experience, including 5+ years supporting a systems program office (or 10+ years with a master’s degree).
• Experience with software development, integration, or lifecycle management as it relates to system engineering processes, including software-driven system design and implementation.
• Experience with global networking, cloud data center, and network point of presence build out.
• Experience with classified or special access programs.
• Self starter able to work independently and with senior level government personnel.
• Skilled in cross organizational coordination and problem-solving.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams).
• Strong experience with engineering tools (Cameo, DOORS) and digital engineering practices.
• Knowledge of military platforms, systems, operations.
• Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Confluence or Jira.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field; or master’s degree and 10 years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

• Integration of weapons systems, sensors, and C2 capabilities, including cross platform interoperability.
• Experience delivering advanced battle management and C2 capabilities aligned with joint force operations and JADC2.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a technical field.
• Knowledge of DoD acquisition regulations and FAR.
• Familiarity with AFLCMC frameworks, directives, and policies.
