The role directly supports certification and verification & validation planning, following an MBSE paradigm throughout the system lifecycle. The engineer will work with engineers across multiple disciplines, Integrated Product Team leads, other systems engineers, program managers, and system architects. Success in this role requires a combination of technical skills, soft skills, and leadership experience. The position reports to the Systems Engineering Manager and, while a hybrid workplace is preferred, it can be considered a fully remote role.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality MBSE artifacts and technical leadership through the current CDR phase of the program and ensure on-time completion to support CDR review within the next 12‑18 months.
  • Perform requirements traceability and impact assessments in relation to the CDR review.
  • Support the development of System and Subsystem Design Description documents in relation to the CDR review.
  • Identify and mitigate system technical risks in relation to the CDR review.
  • Develop system requirements based on inputs from internal Product, Marketing, and Business Development teams, as well as external customers and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain SysML models (Use Case, Activity, Sequence, State machine, etc.) using MBSE methodologies and tools such as Cameo.
  • Advance and support system development activities including the current design phase from requirements validation, implementation, verification, and certification.
  • Lead or support compliance with ARP4754B development practices and produce necessary artifacts.
  • Guide and support system design compliance with certification, cyber security, quality, and safety standards.
  • Support formal technical program gates, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and qualification reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate activities with other team members and supervise/review the work of junior staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited university or college.
  • 7+ years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Systems Engineer position.
  • Experience applying MBSE principles using SysML and one or more MBSE tools (Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw).
  • Familiarity with all phases of the Systems Engineering design process, including concept of operations, requirements development, system/software architecture definition, system integration, requirements validation, and requirements verification.
  • Experience with ARP4754B and ability to support System Safety reviews per ARP4761A.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or related field (optional).
  • Experience developing autonomous systems or avionics products.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion, DOORS.
