Job summary

Precise Systems is seeking a highly experienced System Administrator III to provide senior-level administration, sustainment, troubleshooting, and security hardening across Windows, Linux, virtualization, and network environments. The role supports secure enterprise and tactical systems in government/defense settings and requires in-person presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience required.
• Current Security+ Certificate required.
• Extensive experience in system administration, network administration, IT infrastructure or related roles.
• Strong experience administering Windows and Linux environments (Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux or similar).
• Experience managing servers, virtualization, network infra, VPNs, backups, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Strong cybersecurity, access control, vulnerability remediation, patch management and system hardening knowledge.
• Experience in government/defense IT environments with high security.
• Strong networking fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support administration of Windows, Linux, ESXi, network, and tactical computing environments.
• Implement security hardening and DISA STIG alignment; patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for data protection and continuity.
• Troubleshoot and manage network infrastructure including VPNs, DNS, DHCP, routers and firewalls.
• Support tactical systems and data architecture; monitor pipelines and edge/embedded workloads.
• Monitor inventory, licensing, performance and End-of-Life considerations for sustainment.
• Provide junior staff guidance, document solutions, and coordinate issue resolution.
