Job summary

Torch Technologies is seeking a versatile and proactive Senior Systems Administrator to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of our infrastructure in a lab supporting the US Army Aviation and Missile Center. The role requires hands-on experience with Linux/Windows, virtualization, and field deployments at government test sites.

You will harden systems to government standards, perform security scans, and interface with customers to translate requirements into actionable infrastructure tasks.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required for government work.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in Systems Administration or Network Engineering.
• DoW 8140 certification or equivalent (e.g., Security+, CCNA, RHCSA).
• Experience in DoD or Federal civilian environments.
• Experience with hardware selection based on business needs.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls and switch configuration.
• Strong Linux and Windows Server administration skills.
• Experience applying DISA STIGs to hosts and network devices.
• Experience with virtualization (KubeVirt/Kubernetes) or zero clients.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders and government customers.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to travel >25% to remote test sites.
• Active security clearance (Secret or higher).

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end lifecycle of infrastructure in government/DoD environments.
• Hardening and securing systems per DISA STIGs and government standards.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support and field engineering at customer sites.
• Design and operate virtualization and container workloads.
• Configure and maintain network connectivity, VLANs, and routing.
• Install, rack, and deploy servers and storage in data centers.
