As a Sr. Systems Administrator, you will report to the Director, IT Infrastructure and help design, implement, operate, secure, and continuously improve the infrastructure services that support Sana’s corporate, research, laboratory, and regulated environments. You will serve as a senior hands-on technical resource, lead complex infrastructure initiatives, and partner with IT, Quality, Security, business stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to deliver reliable, scalable, and compliant solutions across a multi-site environment.

What you’ll do
  • Administer, maintain, and improve on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including Windows Server, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, identity, directory, and core network services
  • Lead the technical design and implementation of infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, lifecycle replacements, and new site or system deployments
  • Operate infrastructure supporting GxP and other regulated business processes in accordance with approved procedures, change control, security, data integrity, and validation requirements
  • Monitor system health, capacity, performance, availability, and security; plan and execute patching, preventative maintenance, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle activities before risks affect business operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and recurring problems across servers, cloud services, identity platforms, storage, backup, and integrated infrastructure technologies; participate in incident response and scheduled maintenance as needed
  • Develop and maintain automation for routine administration, monitoring, reporting, configuration, and remediation activities
  • Manage backup and recovery operations, perform restore testing, and contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning and exercises
  • Create and maintain accurate architecture diagrams, configurations, procedures, standards, inventories, and as-built documentation that support consistent infrastructure engineering and operations
  • Provide technical leadership and peer guidance, share knowledge, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend practical service improvements aligned with business priorities
  • Partner with Information Security, Quality, application teams, laboratory and manufacturing stakeholders, and other technology groups to translate business and compliance needs into supportable solutions
  • Coordinate with vendors and managed service providers; define technical requirements, review deliverables, and ensure services meet operational, security, and compliance expectations
  • Perform regulatory responsibilities in accordance with applicable Good Clinical Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related technical discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Deep hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, and monitoring platforms
  • Experience designing, administering, and supporting cloud and SaaS infrastructure, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, and identity and access management services
  • Experience leading complex infrastructure implementations, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle initiatives from requirements and design through deployment, documentation, and operational handoff
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze significant and unique technical issues, evaluate risk and tradeoffs, exercise independent judgment, and deliver effective solutions
  • Experience supporting infrastructure in a regulated life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or similarly controlled environment, with working knowledge of GxP, computer system validation, change control, data integrity, disaster recovery, high availability, and documentation practices
  • Ability to automate administrative and operational tasks using scripting or configuration tools such as PowerShell
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences and produce clear technical documentation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate work across teams, and drive complex assignments to completion in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
What will separate you from the crowd
  • Experience administering, securing, patching, and troubleshooting Linux server environments
  • Experience with infrastructure qualification, validation documentation, 21 CFR Part 11, SOX, HIPAA, or other applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Experience improving infrastructure through infrastructure as code, configuration management, orchestration, monitoring, or automated vulnerability remediation
  • Experience supporting multi-site research, laboratory, manufacturing, or clinical operations and delivering new or substantially modernized infrastructure environments
  • Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft, AWS, VMware, identity, security, networking, or IT service management
What you should know
