Fulcrum Vets is looking to add a Senior Systems Administrator with expertise in supporting Windows Server Active Directory environments to join our team. This position will play a key role in the management, optimization, securing, and troubleshooting of environments, ensuring seamless and reliable operations for the organization.
This position will be onsite in Chantilly, VA.
Clearance: An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI Poly is required. Candidates who do not meet these clearance requirements will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining environments, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.
- Performing regular backups, disaster recovery, and high‑availability configurations for VMware environments.
- Troubleshooting and resolving VMware‑related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and resource allocation.
- Automating routine VMware tasks using PowerCLI and other scripting tools to improve efficiency.
- Managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy infrastructure.
- Administering and supporting user and group management, including security and distribution groups within Active Directory.
- Assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of AD services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication.
- Configuring and implementing security policies and configurations, including Group Policies.
- Conducting regular audits and health checks and resolving issues promptly.
- Overseeing the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of system hardware and software.
- Ensuring uptime and performance of critical systems, including servers, storage, and network infrastructure.
- Collaborating with other IT teams to manage system integration, configuration, and upgrades.
- Providing leadership and mentoring to junior administrators and technical support teams.
- Implementing security configurations for Active Directory environments and ensuring systems meet industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Regularly reviewing security logs and identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities or weaknesses.
- Responding promptly to escalated system and infrastructure incidents and providing root cause analysis.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for systems architecture, processes, and configurations.
- Preparing reports on system performance, resource utilization, and incident resolution for management.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with active CI Polygraph clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive experience with Active Directory, including user/group management, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and client operating systems.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation, management, and reporting.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex system issues in hardware and software.
- Strong knowledge of IT security principles, including encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Full‑time work in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) is required, with flexible hours.
