Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer in the Power sector. You will coordinate design engineers, lead technical efforts, and interact with clients to advance projects from concept to completion.

We value professionals with a PE/P.Eng license, 10+ years in power market project execution, and strong CAD/3D tool skills. HDR offers employee ownership and a comprehensive benefits package, with locations including Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher is required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Power Market Sector.
• Professional Engineering license (PE or P.Eng) required by licensing board.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and power market sector design tools.
• Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture is expected.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work of design engineers within a multidiscipline team.
• Establish client relations and participate in meetings.
• Serve as technical lead within a project execution team.
• Participate in code compliance reviews with agencies.
• Conduct design development and doc sessions with PM and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload to meet project deliverables.
• Mentor other staff and lead engineering activities.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Senior System Protection Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Coordinate the work of design engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings
• Assume technical lead within a project execution team
• Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Coordinate workload throughout the project to complete project deliverables on schedule
• Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
• Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters degree in Engineering
• Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years of experience
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
