Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a senior BIOS/UEFI firmware engineer to design, implement, and deliver innovations for GPU client products. You will work with a global BIOS team on UEFI/BIOS solutions for X86 and ARM platforms, and collaborate with hardware teams to shape HW architecture.

Candidates should have 8+ years, strong C/C++, scripting in Bash/Python, embedded Linux/Windows, and experience with IBVs or EDK2. Bachelor’s in EE or CS.

Qualifications

  • Domain expertise in System BIOS (UEFI) firmware development on X86 or ARM.
  • Solid experience with IBVs or EDK2 firmware architecture.
  • End-to-end delivery of client products from definition to deployment.
  • Strong low-level interfaces between BIOS/UEFI and OS (I2C/SPI/PCIe/JTAG).
  • Experience with HW teams, ODMs and vendors for client platforms.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, self-starter, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deliver BIOS/UEFI innovations for client products.
  • Collaborate with global BIOS team on NVIDIA client designs.
  • Develop performance-optimized UEFI/BIOS solutions per standards.
  • Instrument code, write unit tests, and report test results.
  • Provide quality reports from static analysis and test coverage.
  • Work with security to align code with security goals.
  • Partner with hardware teams to influence HW design and schematics.
  • Create test tools and automation for system software qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Designing, implementing, and delivering innovations for GPU based Client products with focus on firmware development.
  • Working with a global team of BIOS(UEFI) developers on NVIDIA client designs.
  • Designing and developing performance optimized UEFI/BIOS solutions using industry Standards.
  • Instrumenting code to ensure maximum code coverage, writing and automating unit tests for each implemented module and maintain detailed unit test case reports.
  • Providing software quality reports based on static analysis, code coverage, CPU load.
  • Working with security team to ensure developed code is in line with product security goals.
  • Partner closely with hardware teams to influence hardware design and review HW architecture & schematics.
  • Working with QA/Test architects to come up with proper test tools and automation for qualifying the whole system software and firmware stack.
What We Need To See
  • Domain expertise in System BIOS (UEFI) Firmware development on X86 or ARM Platforms.
  • Strong experience with IBVs or EDK2 Firmware architecture.
  • Solid experience of end-to-end delivery of client products from definition to customer deployment.
  • Solid understanding of low-level interfaces between BIOS (UEFI) and OS like I2C/SPI/PCIe/JTAG etc. PCIe enumeration, IO at platform level for client products.
  • Experience working closely with HW teams, ODMs and vendors to introduce and support client platforms.
  • Experience with C/C++ development, bash/python for scripting, and debugging skills in embedded Linux/Windows operating environments.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, good work ethics, high sense of team-work, love to produce quality work and commitment to finish your tasks every single day. Be a self-starter who loves to find creative solutions to exciting problems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher; in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience, with demonstrated strong ability as individual contributor.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4, and 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD for Level 5.
