Job summary

Akira Technologies is seeking a Senior System Administrator to support the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This onsite role covers Windows/Linux administration, security, and end-user support in a JWICS environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in enterprise IT, DoD security experience, and an active TS/SCI clearance. A broad mix of server, network, and security responsibilities is expected in a mission-critical setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of IT experience supporting enterprise-level systems.
• Hands-on Windows and/or Linux system administration in a secure/DoD environment.
• Experience with network administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
• Current IAT Level II certification minimum; DoD-acceptable certs such as Security+, CCNA, RHCSA, MCSA preferred.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required; onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily Windows and Linux system administration, including account management, system configuration, patching, and maintenance.
• Implement and maintain DoD security requirements, including STIGs and configuration standards.
• Administer and troubleshoot network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Provide Tier 1/2 end-user support and issue resolution.
• Support Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems setup and troubleshooting.
• Monitor logs, investigate alerts, and assist with incident response and vulnerability management.
• Maintain JWICS environment security and DoD compliance.
• Perform system backups and disaster recovery testing.
• Document configurations and troubleshooting procedures.

Salary Range: $120,000.00 To $145,000.00 Annually

Akira Technologies is seeking a Senior System Administrator to support the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This position is part of the core technical support team responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of the JWICS environment.

The Senior System Administrator will provide hands-on support across server, network, security, and end-user environments, ensuring systems remain secure, operational, and compliant with DoD requirements. The ideal candidate is a technically strong administrator who can troubleshoot complex issues, support users in a secure environment, and adapt to evolving mission and technology requirements.

This is an onsite position supporting the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD location. The role also requires active TS/SCI clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily Windows and/or Linux system administration, including account management, system configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Implement and maintain DoD security requirements, including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), security patches, and configuration standards.
• Administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and related network devices.
• Provide Tier 1/2 technical support to end users, including account resets, software support, connectivity issues, and general troubleshooting.
• Support Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and user assistance.
• Monitor system and security logs, investigate alerts, and support incident response, remediation, and vulnerability management activities.
• Support the secure operation and maintenance of systems within the JWICS environment, following applicable DoD and site security requirements.
• Perform system backups and support disaster recovery and continuity of operations activities, including testing and validation.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, network, and connectivity issues; escalate complex problems to senior technical personnel or vendors as appropriate.
• Maintain system and technical documentation, including configuration information, troubleshooting procedures, and maintenance records.
• Provide skilled technical support across assigned performance areas and assist with implementing new technologies, system upgrades, and mission requirements.
• Coordinate with system, network, cybersecurity, and customer support teams to maintain system availability, security, and performance.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant IT experience supporting enterprise-level systems and infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration in a secure or DoD environment.
• Experience with network administration, troubleshooting, and enterprise infrastructure support.
• Certifications
  • Current IAT Level II certification at a minimum.
  • Industry-standard certifications relevant to assigned duties, such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, RHCSA, or MCSA.
  • Certifications must meet applicable DoD 8570/8140 requirements for the assigned position.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in system and network administration, troubleshooting, security operations, and customer support.
• Experience applying STIGs and DoD security requirements to enterprise systems.
• Working knowledge of COMSEC and security practices within classified environments.
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills with the ability to support users and resolve technical issues in a mission-focused environment.
• Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Must be able to work onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Salary Range: $120,000 to $145,000
