Job summary

AeroVironment, based in Maryland, is seeking a System Administrator to manage and support mission-critical IT infrastructure across Windows and UNIX systems. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and operate multi-platform environments, with hands-on involvement in hardware and software, and collaboration with hardware vendors.

The role requires strong RedHat Linux and Windows experience, TS/SCI with polygraph, and familiarity with Nessus, POA&Ms, and STE/STN initiatives; 15+ years of SA experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field is required or equivalent combination of education, and experience.
  • Minimum 15+ years of system administration experience.
  • Strong RedHat Linux and Windows (2012/2016/2019) troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Nessus, POA&Ms, and STE/STN initiatives.
  • Proficiency configuring UNIX and Windows environments.
  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Summary

The primary role of the System Administrator is to manage and support mission-critical IT infrastructure. This role involves day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance across Windows and UNIX systems. You'll work directly with both hardware and software systems in a dynamic, multi-platform environment.

Position Responsibilities
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Provide Tier I and II IT support and problem resolution.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field is required or equivalent combination of education, and experience. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 15+ years of system administration experience.
  • Strong RedHat Linux and Windows (2012/2016/2019) troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Nessus, POA&Ms, and STE/STN initiatives.
  • Proficiency configuring UNIX and Windows environments.
  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Other Qualification & Desired Competencies
  • Experience with virtual environments and system capacity planning.
Salary Range: $170,000 - $220,000

The AV pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.
