Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the United States, seeks a System Administrator to manage mission-critical IT infrastructure across Windows and UNIX systems. The role covers day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance in a multi-platform environment.

You'll work with hardware and software, handle server, storage, and network tasks, perform vulnerability management, configure Red Hat Linux and Windows, and provide Tier I/II support, with ITAR compliance and TS/SCI eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field is required, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum 15+ years of system administration experience.
  • Strong RedHat Linux and Windows troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Nessus, POA&Ms, and STE/STN initiatives.
  • Proficiency configuring UNIX and Windows environments.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Summary

The primary role of the System Administrator is to manage and support mission-critical IT infrastructure. This role involves day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance across Windows and UNIX systems. You'll work directly with both hardware and software systems in a dynamic, multi-platform environment.

Position Responsibilities
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Provide Tier I and II IT support and problem resolution.
  • Manage client/server/storage/network infrastructure.
  • Configure and manage RedHat Linux and Windows systems.
  • Support vulnerability management using Nessus.
  • Handle STE/STN scoring and documentation.
  • Maintain POA&Ms and patch systems based on security and functional parameters.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field is required or equivalent combination of education, and experience. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 15+ years of system administration experience.
  • Strong RedHat Linux and Windows (2012/2016/2019) troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Nessus, POA&Ms, and STE/STN initiatives.
  • Proficiency configuring UNIX and Windows environments.
  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Other Qualification & Desired Competencies
  • Experience with virtual environments and system capacity planning.
Salary Range: $170,000 - $220,000

The AV pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.
