Job summary

Lightpath seeks a Lead System and Database Administrator to own and optimize Linux/Windows servers and Oracle/PostgreSQL databases. You will manage Nutanix-based virtualization, Rubrik backups, and implement robust DR plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in system and database administration.
• Proficient with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL including clustering/replication.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V/Nutanix).
• Familiar with Rubrik backup/recovery solutions.
• Strong scripting skills (Python/Bash/PowerShell).
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows servers for performance and uptime.
• Plan upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal disruption.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and improve reliability and scalability.
• Manage virtualized environments (Nutanix/AHV, VMware, or KVM).
• Install/maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL, ensure HA and performance.
• Tuning, backups, DR planning, and restores for databases.
• Design database security: encryption, RBAC, auditing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document configurations.
