Job summary

DGL Consulting Engineers, LLC is seeking individuals to apply land surveying knowledge to assist in planning, implementing, and reviewing survey tasks. The role involves using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to process topographic, boundary, and route surveys and deliverables, under supervision.

The candidate will perform field surveys, prepare field files, and coordinate with engineers and surveyors while adhering to CAD standards and safety requirements. A relevant degree or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in a relevant field or High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• 5 years of field surveying experience preferred.
• Ability to learn processing of survey data in MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performs boundary, topographic and construction layout surveys, solo and in crews.
• Research land records, deeds, subdivision maps, easements, etc.
• Prepare/review field files; process data in MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Prepare calculations, records, drawings and sketches.
• Assist with base and detailed project drawings as required.
• Keep supervisor informed of key issues and project scope.
• Coordinate with engineers/surveyors on project requirements.
• Maintain CAD standards and location/design manuals.
• Complete other survey tasks as assigned; work safely per requirements.

POSITION INFORMATION

• DGL is seeking individuals that can apply their land surveying knowledge and procedures to assist in the planning, implementation, correction and quality review of the assigned survey tasks. Ability to use AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to process, complete and review the final deliverables for topographic, boundary and route surveys along with other assigned tasks by their supervisor.

• 5 years of previous experience in field surveying preferred

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout independently and as part of a crew
• Completes research of land records, deeds, subdivision maps, easements, etc. independently
• Prepares and/or reviews field files as downloaded; learn to process survey data, import data into MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Prepares calculations, record keeping, drawings and sketches
• Assists with base and detailed drawings in accordance with project requirements
• Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
• Communicates with leaders for understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers and surveyors on project requirements
• Maintains requirements of DOT, State Turnpike, local County and City CAD Standards, Standard Drawings and Location and Design Manuals
• Completes other survey tasks and performs related duties as assigned
• Performs duties safely and efficiently in compliance with local, company, and client safety requirements; identifies and addresses hazardous conditions and potentially unsafe conditions and promptly notifies supervisory personnel

SKILL SET

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on difficult terrain, including entering wooded areas
• Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds and complete daily physical labor
• Understanding of Microsoft office suite and experience with MicroStation and/or Civil 3D preferred. Familiarity with Trimble Business Center
• Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy, organization and within established deadlines
• Ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively on various sized projects
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, stakeholders and the general public
• Ability to communicate effectively; speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
• Familiarity with survey field equipment and its standard of care, required
• Flexibility to travel, including overnight, minimal as needed
• Valid Driver’s License required with a favorable driving record
