Job summary

Providence Little Company Of Mary Torrance Hospital in Torrance, CA, is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician for a full-time day shift. The role works under RN supervision, assisting with surgical scrubs, instrument prep, and intra-operative support to ensure efficient case flow.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited Surgical Technician program, holds the National Certified Surgical Technologist credential, and current BLS certification, with at least 3 years of OR experience.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Upon hire: National Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA).
• Upon hire: Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification from American Heart Association.
• 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in an Operating Room.

Responsibilities

• Review preference lists and select supplies and instruments for procedures.
• Perform surgical scrubs and prepare the back table with sterile instrumentation.
• Provide intra-operative support by handing instruments and supplies as needed during cases.
• Transport instruments/equipment to decontamination and restock after procedures.

The Surgical Technician role is a non-licensed health care employee who performs the surgical scrub role and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). These duties may include reviewing preference lists and picking the supplies and instruments for a procedure; performing a surgical scrub and preparing the back table with the appropriate sterile instrumentation and supplies; providing support intra-operatively by anticipating the surgeon's needs and passing him/her the appropriate instrumentation and supplies when needed during the case; completing the cycle by taking instruments and equipment to the decontamination area at the end of the procedure and putting away left over supplies and equipment.

Provides patient care to the following age groups: premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle and older adults.

• Upon hire: National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in Operating Room.
