Job summary

The AP Surgical Pathology Laboratory Supervisor at University of California, Irvine Health will oversee the Gross Room operations, supervise staff, ensure timely processing of surgical pathology specimens, and support pathologists and assistants to maintain diagnostic excellence.

Strong leadership, ASCP certification, and 5+ years of surgical pathology grossing experience are required, along with excellent English communication and proficiency in standard office tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of relevant experience in a surgical pathology grossing environment as lead.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to train new pathologists’ assistant students.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Gross Room Department.
• Supervise staff (hiring, training, corrective action, competencies).
• Ensure accurate, timely, and safe processing of surgical pathology specimens.
• Develop and implement quality control programs and maintain records.
