This role works closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Warehouse, and other supply chain partners to identify constraints, resolve shortages, and improve the accuracy and reliability of planning and procurement processes. This is a role for someone who wants to use their analytical and interactive skills in order to have a direct impact on an organization’s supply chain.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Purchasing
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing cycle for assigned commodities, components, and suppliers, including requisition review, purchase order placement, order confirmation, receipt follow-up, and issue resolution.
- Convert material requirements and approved requests into purchase orders using ERP information, production priorities, supplier lead times, order quantities, pricing, and inventory targets.

- Request and evaluate supplier quotations, compare total cost and commercial terms, negotiate within delegated authority, and recommend sourcing decisions to the Director of Procurement.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, including pricing, lead times, order quantities, supplier information, acknowledgments, and purchase order records. Resolve receiving, invoice, and quantity discrepancies with internal teams and suppliers.
Inventory Management
- Identify inventory control issues and monitor compliance, ensure that warehouse activities are in full compliance with federal, regulatory safety, labor, worker’s compensation, and health/safety requirements.
- Establish and maintain planning parameters such as safety stock, reorder points, minimum and maximum levels, lead times, and order quantities for assigned materials.
- Analyze inventory levels and usage to reduce stockouts, excess inventory, obsolete material, and avoidable carrying cost while supporting production and customer requirements.
- Track and report inventory performance using measures such as service level, inventory turns, days of supply, excess and obsolete inventory, and material availability.
- Support cycle counts and physical inventories, investigate variances, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with Warehouse, Operations, Finance, and Quality.
Planning and Forecasting
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts using sales history, open orders, customer and market information, product plans, promotions, and input from Sales and Marketing.
- Facilitate cross-functional forecast reviews, document assumptions and risks, and reconcile differences to produce a practical demand plan for the assigned product portfolio.
- Translate demand forecasts and production schedules into material requirements and supply plans. Evaluate capacity, lead-time, and availability constraints and recommend actions to close gaps.
- Plan for new product introductions, engineering changes, phase-outs, and unusual demand by coordinating timing, inventory transitions, and supplier readiness with affected functions.
- Analyze supply chain data and prepare reports, recommendations, and updates for operational and leadership review.
- 1. Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for suppliers, order priorities, schedule changes, capacity needs, quality concerns, and business expectations.
- 2. Build professional supplier relationships that support clear communication, dependable delivery, continuous improvement, and fair resolution of performance or commercial issues.
- 3. Monitor supplier performance in delivery, quality, responsiveness, cost, lead time, and service. Maintain scorecards, review performance with suppliers, and follow corrective actions through completion.
- 4. Identify supplier capacity, financial, geographic, quality, and continuity risks. Recommend alternate sources, inventory strategies, or other mitigation plans in partnership with others.
