Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to implement and lead supplier quality processes for space-grade electronics and assemblies. The role collaborates with design, engineering, operations, and supply chain to ensure QMS compliance and supplier performance.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years in aerospace supplier quality, AS9100/ISO 9001 experience, and strong root-cause analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 5–8 years in aerospace/defense supplier quality.
• Experience with space-grade machining, PCBs, PCBAs, integrated assemblies, and test.
• Fluent in interpreting engineering documentation, requirements, and supplier flow-downs.
• Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Expertise in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain supplier quality processes and documentation per AS9100, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and supply chain to ensure flow-downs and compliance to QMS, regulatory and customer requirements.
• Maintain approved suppliers including qualification, performance reviews and risk assessment.
• Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers to meet CesiumAstro requirements.
• Align supplier DFMs with design engineering for manufacturability.
• Investigate nonconformances, drive root-cause corrective actions, and disposition issues (rework, scrap, RMA).
• Monitor and drive SCARs and supplier corrective actions, escalating when needed.
• Establish and analyze supplier performance metrics (defects, on-time delivery, rework costs).
• Use data to develop supplier capability and strategic partnerships.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain supplier quality processes and documentation in accordance with AS9100, leveraging business systems functionalities to drive process efficiency and effectiveness.


• Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, supply chain to ensure supplier flow down and compliance to QMS, customer, industry, regulatory/statutory, and any applicable requirements.


• Maintain approved suppliers including supplier qualification, periodic performance review, supplier relationship management, risk assessment, and removal, if needed.


• Provide technical guidance, support, and training to suppliers to ensure alignment to CesiumAstro requirements for execution.


• Collaborate with design engineering to ensure suppliers design for manufacturability (DFM) considerations are incorporated.


• Perform nonconformance investigation and drive root cause corrective action when supplier issues occur.


• Support disposition of nonconformances including rework, scrap, and RMA.


• Monitor and drive supplier corrective actions requests (SCARs) when escalated.


• Establish and analyze supplier performance metrics including defect rate, nonconformances, on-time delivery, cost of rework/scrap, and supplier corrective action resolution.


• Use performance data to drive strategic partnerships and develop supplier capability with key suppliers.


• Perform supplier site audits and source inspection as needed.


• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements And Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.


• 5-8 years of supplier quality experience in aerospace and defense industries.


• Experience managing suppliers for space-grade machining, PCBs, PCBAs, integrated assemblies, and test.


• Demonstrated skills in supplier management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills


• Ability to interpret engineering documentation, requirements, and other supplier flow downs.


• Experience with certified quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.


• Expertise in root cause analysis methodologies and corrective action implementation.


• Experience with aerospace and electronics manufacturing.

$115,000 - $136,000 a year
