Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Senior Supplier Development & Quality Engineer to own supplier development and supplier quality for a portfolio supporting mission-critical vehicle and missile hardware. The role spans engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sourcing, with on-site supplier interaction and potential alignment to either development or quality engineering based on need.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site supplier recovery efforts; establish recovery plans with owners, milestones, and escalations.
• Interface with suppliers translating drawings, specs, and acceptance criteria into manufacturing and inspection plans.
• Collaborate with Design/Manufacturing/Quality/Strategic Sourcing during NPI to evaluate suppliers and reduce risk.
• Conduct design-for-manufacturability and design-for-quality reviews (materials, tolerances, processes).
• Plan and execute supplier qualification activities and audits within AS9100/ISO 9001 frameworks.
• Own supplier quality deliverables: AS9102 FAIRs, PPAPs, PFMEAs, control plans, and evidence of process capability.
• Drive nonconformances, supplier escapes, audit findings, and corrective actions (8D/DMAIC).
• Assess supplier capacity and risk; develop recovery/improvement plans with clear recommendations.
• Establish and report supplier performance metrics (PPM, defects, yield, on-time delivery).
• Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing on supplier selection, SOWs, and make/buy decisions.
• Create repeatable supplier-development methods and lessons learned.
• Communicate status, risks, and plans to technical and executive stakeholders with evidence."Travel up to 40%"
