Job summary

Manhattan Construction Company seeks a Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on assigned project(s). This role ensures safe, timely, and profitable completion, requiring strong leadership and client-facing communication.

The Senior Superintendent directly supervises on-site labor, manages schedules and coordination, reviews submittals and pay applications, and upholds QA/QC and safety policies across the project team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of industry experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in excess of $100 million.
  • Ideal candidate has project experience in Aviation, Mission Critical, and/or Higher Education sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force.
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Pay Applications and material invoices with the Project Manager.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Manage quality program.
  • Coordinate site testing and inspection reports.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
  • Manage self-performance features of work.
  • Manage the CPM schedule and look-ahead schedules.
  • Attend and lead project meetings (preconstruction, preinstallation, subcontractor, owner, safety).
  • Create daily reports and report quantities.
  • Assist with the Preconstruction/Estimating phase of the project.

Position Summary

The Senior Superintendent is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve safe, timely, and profitable completion of each project. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills, as well as strong communication and client service skills.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies.
  • Participates and executes roles to help create an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring of others.
  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force.
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Pay Applications and material invoices with the Project Manager.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Manage quality program.
  • Coordinate site testing and inspection reports.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
  • Manage self-performance features of work.
  • Manage the CPM schedule and look-ahead schedules.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute Safety, Hazcom, SWPPP, QA/QC plan, etc.
  • Attend and lead portions of project meetings including, but not limited to, preconstruction, preinstallation, subcontractor, owner, and safety meetings in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Create daily reports and report quantities.
  • Assist with the Preconstruction/Estimating phase of the project.
  • Mobilize the site and set up utilities.
  • Assure necessary permits are secured, and inspections occur.
  • Review and verify RFIs.
  • Review and approve submittals for processing.

  • Lead teams with varying levels of experience while developing team members through training and mentoring.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent. Required education may be substituted with related experience on a one-to-one basis.
  • 15+ years of industry experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in excess of $100 million.
  • Ideal candidate has project experience in Aviation, Mission Critical, and/or Higher Education sectors.
Working Conditions and Physical Efforts
  • Adaptable to all weather conditions; traverse and inspect all areas of a construction site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Ability to stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
  • Ability to repeat the same movements.
  • Effective communication to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
  • Compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License).
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
