Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies is seeking a Senior Substation Structural Engineer to lead structural design and analysis for substation projects. You will collect data, perform calculations, and develop equipment recommendations within budget and schedule constraints.

The role requires an active PE license (preferred), 11+ years of experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. This hybrid position supports multiple US sites including Bloomington, MN, with flexible work options

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and active licensure; minimum 11 years related work experience.
• Active PE license preferred; experience with substations, steel and concrete design, and client interaction.
• Hybrid or flexible work options after 90 days; strong communication and leadership required.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design engineering and analysis on substation scopes.
• Prepare complex engineering calculations and manage data for engineering work.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, and quality requirements for projects.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to meet project goals.
