Job summary

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is seeking a Senior Electric Standards and Strategy Engineer to provide strategy, engineering, operations, and technical implementation support for transmission, substation, and SCADA/Automation systems. The role is hybrid, combining remote work and onsite duties in Oakland.

The position requires mastery of journey-level engineer skills, with responsibilities spanning design standards, vendor evaluations, and advanced problem solving.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8 years of cumulative electrical/civil engineering, planning and/or operations experience.
• California PE license (desired).
• Experience in substation design and engineering (desired).

Responsibilities

• Develop and review substation standard layout drawings, grounding systems, raceways, and control building arrangements.
• Develop standard Protection and Automation schematics.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and provide training on assets within areas of expertise.
• Prepare specifications for high-voltage equipment (breakers, transformers, switches, CCVTs).
• Evaluate new technologies for Substation equipment and design to improve reliability.
• Conduct vendor reviews and qualifications for various equipment.
• Solve problems by applying engineering design and technical solutions.
