Job summary

Kimley-Horn’s Houston office is seeking a Substation Protection and Control Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the Power Delivery team. This is not a remote position and the role requires strong technical skills in utility protection standards, with opportunity to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities include developing protection packages, relay diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and coordinating with cross-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (implied).
• 4+ years of substation design experience.
• PE license preferred or obtainable within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Design HV/MV substation protection and control packages.
• Create relay one-line and three-line diagrams.
• Develop AC/DC schematics, wiring, and interconnection diagrams.
• Lead technical reviews and mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate with cross-discipline teams and clients.
