Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Houston, TX office, with consideration for Austin, TX. You will join the Power & Energy Substation Team and drive design, analysis, and construction support for utility-scale substations and related projects.

The role requires extensive experience in substation design, coordination across disciplines, and compliance with IEEE/NERC standards, leading teams from inception to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer License.
• Extensive knowledge of substation design and related codes/regulations.
• Experience leading electrical design for substations and related projects.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review electrical infrastructure design plans for substations and related projects.
• Coordinate with owners, disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients to deliver design packages.
• Develop data, calculations, and reports to support permitting, procurement, and construction.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NERC standards and regulations.
