Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design lifecycle for high-voltage substations under EPC contracts in the United States. You will guide development, design, and installation, while overseeing construction and commissioning of substation equipment and systems.

The role requires extensive experience, strong understanding of HV equipment, and the ability to manage risks and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • FE and/or EIT registration.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in substation engineering.
  • Proficient in substation design software.
  • Knowledge of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays (15kV–500kV).
  • Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, ANSI, and NEC standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to project sites.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Knowledge of electric transmission systems and design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Adaptable to a high-growth company.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver high-quality work in tight timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design life cycle of high-voltage substations under EPC contracts, including studies, procurements, and construction deliverables.

  • Support design and execution of utility infrastructure and delivery of utility capacity for data center campuses.

Job description

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and/or Engineer in Training (EIT) registration

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in substation engineering or a related field

  • Proficient in substation design software

  • Strong knowledge of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays, covering 15kV through 500kV

  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes, including IEEE, NESC, ANSI, and NEC

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to project sites as needed

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

  • Knowledge of electric transmission systems and design

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
