My City Transportation in Houston, TX, is seeking a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of 13kV through 765kV projects. This role guides technical teams from concept through construction, collaborating with utility clients to influence grid infrastructure.

Responsibilities include developing design packages, overseeing layouts and protection schemes, and ensuring construct-ready deliverables while adhering to IEEE and NESC standards. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field.
• FE exam completed for engineering technology degree holders.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-voltage substation projects from concept through final completion.
• Develop and review complete substation design packages for new installations, upgrades, and modifications.
• Oversee layouts, grounding, protection, and control system design.
• Prepare engineering calculations for station service, battery sizing, and cable sizing.
• Produce equipment specifications, BOMs, cost estimates, and construction-ready deliverables.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, and utility standards throughout project execution.
• Conduct field inspections and assess existing facilities.
• Manage deliverables, schedules, budgets, and deadlines.
• Lead design QA/QC and resolve technical challenges.
• Partner with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
