Job summary

SSOE Group seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer (Substation) to lead the design of medium and high‑voltage substations for utility, municipal, and industrial clients. You will ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective designs meeting standards and client needs.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage deliverables, and serve in responsible charge on project work while advancing innovative solutions and professional growth.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree.
• 12+ years of experience in substation design and engineering.
• Experience with HV/MV substations, protection and control systems, SCADA integration.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate large substation engineering assignments with budget, schedule, quality and inter-discipline coordination.
• Plan and develop projects involving complex problems with specialized substation expertise.
• Prepare substation layouts, single-line and three-line diagrams, schematics and specs.
• Coordinate designs for steel structures, foundations, grounding grids, buswork, raceway and conduit systems.
• Specify and select substation equipment (transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays).
• Conduct power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash).
• Provide design support during construction, respond to RFIs, review major items.
• Stamp/seal drawings as professional in responsible charge where applicable.
• Lead engineers and designers, mentoring within the department.
• Maintain liaison with stakeholders and coordinate interfaces.
