Job Description

The CEHD Career Services Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring career and professional development activities for approximately 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students from degree programs in the College of Education & Human Development (CEHD). This position will engage students with career development activities, cultivate strong employer partnerships, and facilitate opportunities for connecting employers with CEHD students. As a member of the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships, this role will collaborate closely with this team.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Career Advising: provide individual and small group coaching (in-person and virtually) to advise on career-related topics including resumes, CVs, cover letters, part-time and full-time job search strategies, careers in education and human development, graduate school applications, teaching philosophies, and mock interviews. Develop career resources specifically focused on career readiness of CEHD majors.
  • Career Events and Employer Relations: responsible for coordinating career fairs and interview days each academic year for CEHD students. Develop connections with prospective employers for CEHD students.
  • Professional Development: provide guest lectures/presentations to students in CEHD courses and student organizations and assist with review of resumes and other professional documents. Plan and offer career development workshops and career/professional program information sessions. Maintain a Canvas site of professional resources for students.
  • Student Outreach: represent and share information about Career Services with new and prospective students and families, collaborate with other CEHD student-facing staff and faculty to offer career-focused learning experiences throughout the year.
  • OCEP Collaboration: collaborate with the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnership team on ongoing projects, presentations, and team events.
  • Campus and College Collaborations: collaborate with the MU Career Center, serve on MU Career Services Council, and represent CEHD on campus committees focused on career services. Work closely with other offices in Student Success & Academic Affairs as well as Graduate Student Services staff.
  • Outcomes Data and Handshake: serve as divisional lead for the Outcomes Survey, tracking placement of undergraduate CEHD alumni using campus-wide outcomes and analytics software and provide data to CEHD administrators as requested. Serve as CEHD Handshake administrator, conducting online resume reviews for CEHD students and job approvals.
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of experience in university or P12 education setting working in a student-facing role.

Experience in creating and facilitating student programming in the areas of career counseling, advising and/or student affairs.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Grade: GGS 010
