Job summary

Swarm Aero is seeking a lead engineer to own the largest structures on the aircraft, including wing box, fuselage sections, and empennage. You will set the architecture for large composite primary structure and lead a team of structures design engineers to flight readiness.

This hands-on role focuses on design reviews, trades between weight, cost, schedule and producibility, and working daily with stress, M&P, and composites. Onsite in Oxnard, CA.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
• 8+ years of experience designing aircraft structure.
• Experience leading engineers through a full development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of major airframe structure: wing box, fuselage sections, empennage.
• Define the structural architecture for large composite parts and load paths.
• Lead and mentor a team of structures design engineers.
• Drive trades on part count, tooling approach, and assembly sequence.
• Solve dimensional control, cure growth, fixturing, and transport challenges.
• Collaborate daily with stress, M&P, and composites manufacturing to close margins.
