Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a Structural Project Manager to support and grow our Austin, Texas team. This senior role leads complex building design projects, deepens client relationships, and expands KPFF's presence in Central Texas.

You will manage vertical projects from concept through construction, mentor engineers, and drive business development. This hybrid role requires in-office presence in Austin three days weekly, with collaboration across offices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
  • PE license required.
  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience, building design focus.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline building projects and coordinating consultant teams.
  • Knowledge of steel, concrete, wood, masonry design.
  • Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS, TMS standards.
  • Proficiency with ETABS, RAM, RISA, SAFE and related tools; coordination platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary technical and client-facing lead on structural projects.
  • Lead project execution from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Oversee structural analysis and design for multiple materials.
  • Direct preparation of construction documents and design narratives.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, contractors, fabricators, and reviewers.
  • Collaborate with teams in Austin and San Diego across markets.
  • Navigate Texas code approvals and building jurisdiction processes.
  • Provide construction-phase support including shop drawings and RFIs.
  • Support business development including proposals and client relationships.
  • Mentor engineers and designers; develop leadership.
  • Represent KPFF in industry organizations and local groups.
